The 5 Things You Need To Know Today

Another weekend comes, flirts with us for a few days and then leaves us exposed and raw to another 5 days of toil and tribulations. What a cruel and unfair world we live in. Moving on, let’s get a round-up of the music news from the past 3 days or so.

You know the drill, click on the link to get more information.

1) Daft Punk streamed 15 seconds of (presumably) their new material on television over the weekend

Despite the fact that the internet is practically ABLAZE with this information if you haven’t already heard the clip then you definitely should check it out – it certainly sounds as though Nile Rodgers was involved in some way with the production and frankly the whole thing makes me extremely excited (so sue me).

2) It was Justin Bieber’s 19th birthday and he decided to go out and get a kebab without his shirt on

Which is totally fine in most circles. The Daily Mail covered the story the only way they could (with a lot of pictures).

3) MIA has released some new, unheard material on a mixtape for KENZO

It’s unconfirmed as to whether the tracks are from the artist’s upcoming album ‘Matangi’ or not but it’s all sounding very new and fresh. Her album was originally going to be released in April but was delayed for being ‘too positive’ – which is actually great news because everyone needs a +++ – triple positive – soundtrack to usher in the Spring time.

4) Kanye West has had another rant – this time in Amsterdam.

Kanye West is seemingly campaigning his anti-corporate sentiments world wide with yet another rant flaring up in Amsterdam declaring the creative mind to be above all things and the desire for brands to be a meaningless pursuit. Yeezus Christ is beginning to become his new monicker (unofficially) as these motivational talks become more commonplace in his live shows. (via Noisey)

5) Method Man has announced there will be a new Wu-Tang Clan album this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ’36 Chambers’

And this is a very, very good thing.
